Getting into the picture at New World Matamata

The Sustainable Matamata gardening team who work at the Potager Garden at the Firth Tower & Museum found themselves in the company of Seven Sharp recently whilst also getting to know Steven Yin, owner-operator of New World Matamata.

The TV1 reporters were covering the supermarket’s new “chat lane” at the checkout where you don’t have to rush but can strike up conversation.

The gardeners once a month have a get-together at the Merchant of Matamata and there they were one fine afternoon when Seven Sharp and Mr Yin arrived.

Our team then somehow got themselves in front of the camera. The resulting item about New World Matamata appeared on Seven Sharp on 29 June with our guys appearing as “extras”. In case you missed it, take a look.

A New World way to support Sustainable Matamata

The other New World news is that in September, Sustainable Matamata will be one of the good causes New World Matamata shoppers can support as they make their way to the exit. There will be a clear plastic container where you will be able to drop your red token into one labelled Sustainable Matamata to help raise funds for us.

Note also that New World helps our district’s waste reduction efforts. Near the entrance to the store you will find their community corner with coffee tables and noticeboards, and bins where batteries and clean soft plastics like bread bags can be dropped off.
